Salt Edge End User License Agreement — Summary

Effective date: April 1, 2026

Third-Party Document Summary

This is a summary of the End User License Agreement (EULA) of Salt Edge, one of our technical service providers for data aggregation and Open Banking services. The full legally binding document can be downloaded below.

Salt Edge provides the technical data aggregation platform that enables BudgetBakers to securely retrieve financial data from banks and financial institutions.

Service Description

By giving your consent, you appoint Salt Edge as your authorized agent with a limited power of attorney to connect to your financial institution's systems. The service retrieves account information and transaction history in read-only mode (or, if applicable, initiates payment transactions via the Developer Application). Salt Edge does not review the data for accuracy and strictly transmits what your bank provides.

Your Obligations

By using the service powered by Salt Edge, you agree to:

  • Maintain the strict confidentiality and security of your banking credentials.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and the specific terms, rules, and restrictions set by your financial institution.
  • Not resell, modify, decompile (reverse engineer), or circumvent security mechanisms.
  • Immediately notify us/Salt Edge if you suspect any loss, theft, or unauthorized use of your credentials.

Consent, Data Sharing & Developer Liability

You explicitly authorize Salt Edge to access your bank data, process it according to their Privacy Policy, and share it with the Developer (BudgetBakers). Once the data is transmitted to BudgetBakers, BudgetBakers' own terms and privacy policy apply. Salt Edge also reserves the right to irreversibly anonymize and aggregate collected data for analytical research, performance tracking, and service improvements.

Service Availability & Accuracy

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Financial institutions may change their systems, delay, or prevent access, meaning your most recent transactions might not always be immediately reflected. Salt Edge provides no warranties regarding continuous availability, absolute security against hacker attacks, or data accuracy.

Limitation of Liability

Salt Edge's liability is strictly limited as specified in the full terms. They are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (such as loss of profits or data). Their total aggregate liability to the user for all claims relating to this agreement is limited to a maximum of $100 USD.

Governing Law and Disputes

The agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario (Canada). All disputes are to be resolved exclusively through binding arbitration in Ontario. The user expressly waives the right to file a lawsuit in court, the right to a trial by jury, and the right to participate in class actions.
